Tropical Storm Arthur is bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds to parts of the Gulf Coast and southeastern United States.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecast 5 to 10 inches of rain for areas including the Texas coast, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, western Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle.

Impact & Risks

The storm and associated weather conditions are causing widespread travel disruptions, particularly in the aviation sector. Chicago O’Hare has seen over half of its outbound flights delayed or canceled, with 42% of inbound flights also delayed. Other major airports, including Dallas Fort Worth and Minneapolis-Saint Paul, have reported hundreds of delays. The heavy rainfall and strong winds pose risks of flash flooding, especially in areas south of Chicago, where a flash flood warning is in effect. Coastal regions in the Gulf are at risk of flooding and wind damage.
